loose handle on hyrda touch

hey guys the handle on my hrdra touch control valve is a little sloppy, whats a good fix short of rebuilding an otherwise good valve...

The steel splined insert on the aluminum lever is hardened. The shaft coming out of the valve isn't as hard. It is probably worn. It can be easily replaced. Have to take off the oval cap on the valve body, drive out a small pin on the shaft, and the shaft comes out in two pieces. If that is replaced and it still wobbles, you will need a new aluminum lever.

Or you could try some epoxy in the splines to eliminate the wear. Might be worth a try but I don't see it as a long standing repair.

I have had success taking thin hard steel shims and driving them into the wear gap all around the serrations. Steel needles might do well. Use locktite on the result before reassembling the outer valve cover, or valve. Jim

not sure what tractor you got but on my 300 i used a larger cotter pin. Where the shaft connects to the lever on the block there is a hole drilled through both pieces. Mine had worn out there so I replaced with a larger cotter pin, before that we had a 16d nail in there and it held it pretty tight.
