farmall 240

I received a call about a 240 with a stuck engine. Has a blade and a bush hog. I never heard of it nor anything about it. I hate to ask about pricing but if it is scrape price is this a good tractor to fix up or just walk away?

The 240 replaced the 230, which was the last in the line that started with the C. It is a more modern tractor with better hydraulics, etc than the 230. A stuck engine is a stuck engine, costs about the same to fix regardless of the model in that series. Problem is you can't run it to see if there are other problems. The 240 is no better or worse than the competing tractors of other brands.
 
yes better to part it out. But where alot of them made? it has a blade and a bushog also. So is a three point hitch on it?
 
I agree but is it worth my time not knowing resale value on it? I am not going to ask a pretty penny for it but would like to see it run and give it so someone that would restore it
 
Fixed to operate at work, with usable tires, it is worth 2000. If the tires are toast is it worth 1200.
If the engine is stuck with rebuild required it is worth 600 if parts are salvagable. Remember to include lagbor costs and shipping hasels when parting a tractor. They are very handy small tractors, the drawback is no live PTO. Jim
 
If it is a Farmall there were around 3,000 made compared to 10,000 of the Utility being made, at least from what I have read.
 
Was told ran 2 or 3 years ago. Needs head cleaned up along with the sleeves and pistons. Has fast hitch. 1000.00 for the tractor blade and bush hog. Will try and get more detail on it this weekend.
 
If you have no tools, and no mechanical ability, let someone else have it. If you do have them you should be over there getting it, not reading this. Jim
 
I live in town and wish I had our family farm 30 minutes away, but it is 12 hours of freeway and through Chicago. Jim
