electric solenoid for carb (656/263/1967)

Allen or anyone have any experience with an electric solenoid switch in the front of the carb on 560/656 farmall. The wire broke down in the solenoid and the engine would not start. The one the IH dealer ordered is not like mine. Mine has a approx 1 1/4 inch piston type rod with a tappered end to shut of the fuel when the switch is off Ele pops it back in when the switch is turned on. Does anyone know the difference in them. The IH current does not have the extension rod out of it very far. Any info is appreciated.

That solenoid can be replaced with the adjustment screw, packing nut, and packing as used on the earlier carbs found on the H through 450. The last 560 carburetor I rebuilt had already been changed over. Solves a lot of problems.

take your old one and cut the rod off, I use a good pair of wire pliers. Put it back in carb good to go. done this several times when in a pinch

Thanks to All. I found one my friend had and it worked fine from a 560. Cost was a BBQ plate. If it goes out again, I'll ditch it. Thanks Again
