M radiator shutters

I am working on cleaning up my M.I took the shutter assembly off to clean off the dirt and other stuff pluging the radiator.The shutters are frozen.My question is if I get them free will the fan pull them closed.As usual half of control rod is missing. Thanks Bill

The fan will not operate the shutters.You need to get the proper crank and rods,or make them up so you can open and close the shutters to any position.I had one on an H that I had to tie open,until I got the adjuster rods made up.Tractor shoul heat up to "run" when they are in the right position.

If memory serves, the spring on the top of the shutter linkage will hold them open; you need the linkage to close the shutters.

I thought the fan pulling air in through rad would pull shutters closed.Will check out spring.I don't have equipment to make parts,will check out the swap meets this fall.Thanks Bill
