B farmall smokes

White for the most part means water is being consumed. Check for water droplets coming out of muffler after warm up. (droplets at start up could be condensation) See if you are using water ie low coolant level. If you are getting a blacker smoke, then you could be looking at valve guides or ring issues.

It could just need to be run harder and burn the condensate out, or have problems. I would not worry if it does not do this after warmed up and the antifreeze holds.

Agreed with others - but will add...

White smoke is burning water/coolant, blue smoke is burning oil.

It can be a little difficult sometimes to tell the difference between the two, especially if there isn't a lot of it.

Not foolproof - but if in doubt, you can hold a cold beer (or beverage of your choice) over the exhaust while it's doing this - if condensation immediately starts building up and dripping off, it's most likely water you're burning. If it doesn't do that and just gets a little greasy, then it's oil.

It's more likely that it's burning oil (unless you've done a rebuild). If that's the case, it's one of those things that you have to decide on how long you want to live with it.

If it's water you're burning, you really want to address that one sooner than later.

thanks-the coolant level does not change,Of course I only use it for raking hay. Was hoping to put in a parade this weekend-any suggestions to stop the smoke for a few hours.

Well if the smoke is from oil change to a thicker weight oil and that will slow if down some. If from condensation well warm it up real good before taking it for the ride.

If it's blue/oil smoke a heavier grade of engine oil will reduce it.

If it's water steam - I guess just higher rpms, lower gear.

Yes, thicker oil should help if it is oil smoke, 15W40 works for me. Warming it up real good will help if condensation.
