504 hydraulics

Put a loader on it and hooked the hydraulics to the aux valve on tractor. It will lock open till the pressure builds hi enough and then closes. That said, the loader woks good but tried to pick up a round bale and it has enough pressure to trip the aux control but if I hold it open it still doesn't have enough pressure to lift the bale. Does this sound like a week pump or something else? IT works the baler gate and mower just fine. Is there a better way to hook up the hydrualics to the loader?

Either the pump is weak, which I doubt, or the bale is too big. A 504 is really rather small for hauling large round bales on a front end loader.

What size pump do you have on it, there was 2 pumps for that tractor, a 10gpm? one and a 17gpm?. Check the serial number tag it will have some letters after the serial number this will tell you if you have the larger pump or not. Just throwing that out there. p.s. i think the code was Y but dont hold me to that.
