1466 steering pump adjustment

Hello,
pump whines, we know it needs shimming but cant figure out exactly where to add them.
I & T book doesnt say other than reassembly.

The only "shimming" to be done to the MCV (steering) pump is the gasket between the MCV or spacer plate and the center section. there are two different thicknesses. The repair manual says to use the thinner one if you can determine that is what was on the tractor originally or else use the thicker one.

Whining is usually caused either by air entering the pump or a mismatch of gear tooth angle. When replacing the gear you need to make sure that you have the 25 degree pressure angle gear. 06 and early 56 series tractors used a 20° tooth that will fit but they will be noisy and running a mismatched set will ruin both gears.
