Lights on a Super M

The super M I have doesn't have lights. I got a pair pretty cheap, changed the bulbs and ran the wires. I have them to the ammeter box but there is no light switch in the box. I picked up a generic switch till I do my full restoration. I just need lights for just in case purposes. But what is the best way to power the switch? Should I grab power from the live wire from the alternator feeding to the ammeter or is there another way to rig them up. Its a 12 volt conversion.

Was the light switch missing or isn't there a hole for it? Do you have the fuse holder in the light box? The fuse is in series from your power source to the lights.

Schematically you could look at Bob M's fine drawings for the correct wiring method.

I have the hole for both the fuse and the light switch but neither is installed. I am going to look at his drawings closer to see if they can help. Thanks -Keith

Connect to the alternator side of the ammeter.

That way when the lights are running it shows as a draw on the ammeter.

If the tractor had the original generator, there would be an "L" post on the regulator. That's where you'd connect the lights.

Would this be true for the 300? I just bought a 300 and they converted it to 12V and did not get the lights rewired. Will Bob M's drawing be helpful to me and how do I get it if it does?
