Love your website with the pictures of the 1950 H rebuild. Could you enlighten me with how you put the distributor gear back on the engine while the front cover was on? What I"m getting at, is how did you make sure the gear was in so that the engine could be timed correctly?

I removed my distributor gear (while the front cover was stil on) and made a mark on the front pulley so that when I reassembled it, it would still be correctly timed. What was your "trick"?

Thanks so much for helping a rookie out!

thanks Randy, I think I got it.

When I removed the dist. gear I oriented it so the slot was vertical, then I made a small mark on the engine pulley. That way I could still rotate the pistons and then put the dist. gear back on using the marks and setting the slot vertical.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate all the pictures on your website!
