Looking at a Farmall 560. It has the narrow front end, T/A, 6 cylinder gas. Its complete but of course would need paint, etcc. It does run. They are asking $1200. What ya think and what are these things worth. Thanks

At $1200, I'm thinking one of two things:

1. The tractor has MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR problems. Unless you want a project, WALK AWAY.
2. If the tractor is okay, the seller is a fool. BUY IT.

A 560 in good running condition with decent tires is worth $3500 IMHO.

Thanks guys.It actually a family friend that has it. It runs and has a good t/a. They are getting older and just dont want it anymore. Ive actually been pestering them for years to get it. heheheh

That sounds really reasonable. I have had a couple of them and really don't care for them. They are clumsy as heck to get on and off of and to use in general. That 6 cylinder makes a lot of noise, but I really think a good running M has more power.

So dej(Jed), what is your REAL problem with these tractors?

1. They're no more difficult to mount/dismount than anything that came before. After all, they're basically the same size and shape as a Farmall M from the rear.

2. The low-RPM (1800 RPM) 6-cylinder engines are some of the quietest, smoothest-running IH ever made.

I just have not had good luck with the 560. Maybe I have had a couple of worn out ones. The 2 I had just made a lot of noise and had no more power than my M . I do have a 656 and I like it. At $1200 he can't go wrong though. I paid $2000 each for the ones I had. My 656 has 5400 hrs on it and runs great.

One of the best tractors IH ever made after the early problems, we have had the same one since new in 1963 pulled 4 16s with it our super m not even close to that, and it is still in use for raking hay and other small jobs now, it is a gas the diesels were kind of hard starters.
