TIre size for rim

I need a refresher on what size tires to look for. The tractor is a Super AV and is sitting on one rim due to a side wall blowout. I have used a caliper to measure around the tires and have used the OUTSIDE of the rim roll as my measurement point. Someone told me long ago to subtract 1/2" from each side for the roll on the rim so that would make these 8" rims because I measured 9".

NOW...if I did that right, what range of tire size can I use? The tire that blew was an 11.?? x 36. The good tire on the other side is 12.4 x 36. I need to buy a used tire but the only 12.4 x 36 tires I can find are in the hands of a well known dealer and he wants a price I cannot justify. I have found a guy with a reasonably priced set of 10" tires but don't know if they will work. New is out of the question. I like the wider tires but figure that the narrow ones wouldn't look so bad on the high crop. Will the 10 x 36 work?

If I remember right that number is the old type number and those tires would be very old so they might not last you long. A 10X36 again if memory serves me right is what is now called a 11.2X36 so yes a pair would work fine one would be sort of wrong and over work the rear end

Remove the tire and measure from the inside of the lips that the bead sits on. You can safely go 1 inch wider than that measurement and the tire will fit ok. The size may be stamped on the inside of the rim, if you are lucky. Ideally the tread width should be the same as the rim width. But a 10-36/11.2-36 on a 9 inch rim will be ok. If you really have an 8 inch rim you need a 9-36/9.5-36. In modern terms 9 inch tires look a little narrow -- I have a C with the old 9-36 tires on it, will probably replace with 11.2-36, but I will need new rims. 12.4's are simply too wide for that tractor unless you are into pulling or something.

I have a match for this tire if you happen to be looking for a goodyear traction torque 12.4/36. The tire on the other side was new when I bought the tractor, took six or eight years to find a match. Had to buy two tires, the other one is 90%.

I would definitely be interested in your tire as it is a close match to what I have now. You can e-mail me thru the forum or post back with your info. Sometimes email here does not work so well.

Appreciate everyones comments!
