Unusual Farmall M

One long machine. I have seen other pictures of graders using an 'M', they should be nice working outfits.

Three companies mad versions of those graders there are many still around it was not unusual to see them after the war in road construction they are not rare.

Well if they are not rare they sure aren't common. You don't see them for sale very often.

Graders like that were fairly common in rural towns' highway department fleets in the years immdediately following WWII. Builders included Austin, Trojan and Adams; I think also Foote Mfg.

The Farmall M was the most commonly used base tractor for these machines. However Minnie Mo and Allis-Chalmers tractors were also used.

Before WWII the IHC W20 & W30 were used as the base tractor. I watched an Adams(?)/IHC W20 - complete with cab - operating at the Pageant of Steam (Canandaigua, NY) this past August.

Fascinating old machines!
