Grease for Farmall B steering

I have reassembled the steering gear assembly on the B project and I was thinking of using corn head grease for the gear lubrication. What are your recommendations? The tractor will eventually be kept in Texas so the cold weather shouldn't be a factor.

I have used plain grease gun grease with good results. It hasn't leaked past the seals yet, even in the summer.

if you want to use grease, use actual steering box grease. ordinary grease is thicker and does not lube well as it just sits away from the moving parts.

I am sure that he has a leaking seal and does not want to replace it. I have had the same problems in my bushog gear box and the steering gear of my Cub. I have always heard the farmers here use corn head grease but I use synthetic grease. I have used it in my bushog now for 15 years with no problem. It also has the benefit of not being affected by cold weather as much as regular grease.

For getting good lube in the gears and bearings 90wt is what they used if they wanted grease gun stuff they would have put zerks in the sector instead of a fill hole and another one for checking level and to drain.
