vacuum lift on Farmall A

Was the vacuum lift on the Farmall A an option or maybe something added later in production. I have a 43 A I just bought and I don't see a way to mount the lift cylinder on the front position and I don't see an place where the handle to operate would attach.

Not vacuum, exhaust. It used exhaust pressure to lift.

As far as I know, it was an option from the start of production.

Gene Bender has the know-how on them, he probably can explain how to mount it.

For the cultivator lift, the cylinder was mounted vertically on the left side front attached to a flat piece--maybe 3/4 thick by 1 1/2 wide with a bend or two. The strap bolted to the front of the block IIRC.
The plow lift had the cylinder mounted flat on the left side near the gear shift lever.
I think there may have been a cable/ pulley arrangement on the cultivator for lifting.
Been a LONG time since the plow & culti have been on the A.

The cycl mounted on the left front with two pieces one held the top and the other held the bottom. There are other parts to make the system work from the exhaust manifold to the check valve assy which operated to hold the pressure and then a handle mounted on the steering post for raising and lowering the cycl. The upright position was for the cultivator and the cycl was mounted in different places for all the implements used on the tractor. It was an extra when ordering the tractor. I have all the parts needed to make it work Most are no longer available from the dealer. cell is 319-430-3907
