Im just wondering where would I find a good used governor for my 450 gas. Mine is wore out and doesn't work like it should. How hard is it to change? Is it rebuildable?

i could sell you another worn out used one, but if i were you i would buy a m+w governor the next time one is on e-bay.

There ain't much to fix one as usually the biggest thing is where the gov. spring goes the org. bushing that were PRESSED into the holes have long since fell out and the spring is flopping around and this just plum screws up everything. Find someone that has a lathe and have him turn out two new bronze bushings and chamfer both sides of the new ones so the spring will not bind and have a little and i mean a little play in the hole . The new bushings should have and interference fit or by that i mean PRESSED in. If the pins in the yoke are worn make new ones and weld them in . This ain't rocket science . Fixed many of them this way and they work like mew. Same goes for the fly weights If needed then rebush.

You could try Dennys Tractor Parts. They rebuild it back to new condition. They charge around $425.00 to rebuid it back to stock.

And why wouldn't an M&W governor be just as worn out?

Denny's tractor parts? Surely you jest.

Geeeeee's it is no wonder i am not rich . I felt like i was ripping someone off at a buck and a half to go thru one and i was the one taking it off and putting it back on and making the set up.
