H running better and better

I got the new plug wires on the H tonight, and it idles super smooth. It has had a flutter for a long time that I could not figure out.

I am swallowing my pride and admitting that replacing the old ignition components makes a huge difference. I never thought there was an issue because it started good, had power and never missed under load.

Plug wires can be difficult to diagnose. An ohm meter will usually detect opens, but not leaks to ground. A mist of water and night viewing is sometimes a light show. Jim

These might have been the original plug wires. I have had the tractor 2 years, my dad at least 10 and it sat for 30 years before he got it and unstuck it.

Plug wires are very very easy to figure out if bad. All you do is grab them with the engine running and if you jump 5 foot then you know there bad. If you do not jump then they are most likely good LOL

Ya or if your teaching a kid how things work use the kid that way he will never forget how to check things and how to always use a buddy to check other things

(quoted from post at 10:40:46 09/16/11) I've never been sure why I got shocked when I grabbed them. So I should be looking at getting a new wire set soon then eh?

I've got an H that I just put new wires on, and if anyone wants to come by and test them by grabbing with your hands, you're more than welcome to try it. I'll guarantee you I WILL NOT grab them.

Ya good quality plug wires should not shock you if they are good but there are a lot of cheap ones that do not last long or are poorly made that will shock you but as I said they are poorly made
