706 wheatland diesel production

I don't think they kept track of that. I think the only seperate numbers were for the high clearance.

We had two 706s with the wide fenders and the non-adjustable standard front end. I would call that a wheatland version. If so I think they built them as International and Farmall. They don't seem to have a very accurate number on how many of each were built. Unless someone on this forum has an update on that.

Yes,IH made a 'wheatland' 706.Red power magazine(you do take RPM,dont you?) has featured them.'FarmallLand"USA museum has a nice example with an 'icecream box' on it.

No 706's were ever labled "Wheatland" as far as I know. IHC built Farmall 706's which had there own series of serial numbers and they built International 706's and 2706's which had there own different series of serial numbers. International 706 & 2706 serial numbers are; 63 501-1250, 64 1251-3477, 65 3478-4788, 66 4789-5315, and 67 5316-6??? (I don"t have the final number). There were a lot more Farmall 706's built than there were International 706's & 2706's built.

Rick,

The High Clearence serial numbers were in the normal Farmall serial number series, not seperate. High Clear was considered an option just like; gas, LPG, diesel, TA, 3 point hitch, etc. International and Farmall serial numbers were in a seperate series during this era.

I didn't say they were labeled "wheatland". Most people call it a wheatland when it has non-adjustable front and rear wheels. And the back fenders covering most of the tire. This doesn't mean any certain brand, just generally speaking.

In our area they were always called either "standard tractors" or "wheel tractors" but not "Wheatland tractors". "Wheel tractors" is the original IHC designation for these type tractors hence the W designation during the letter series era. IHC did designate some individual models "Wheatland" for sales in certain areas of the country.
