I"v been asked to help a friend with his 1956? Interntional 400 tractor -- changing rear wheel bearings - no manuel and I"m not familure with this model -- any expert advice or copy of manuel instructions would be appreciated.

The outers are easy, pullthe wheel, remove the cap, you're there.replace the seal, too. The inner is more difficult-you will need a book!cause you gotta dismantle about half the tractor...goodluck ,Steve

Drain, pull pto, remove bolt on bull gear, pull wheel and end cap, devise a threaded bolt and some spacers between axle and turn axle while holding bolt, pushes axle right out. Then you can move bull gear over far enough to work inside to get inner bearing out. Little harder to put axle back into bull gear but done a ton of them over the years, alone. If inside has flat roller bower bearing it will require more caution on assembly.

Thanks for the replies -- it was the outer bearing and my friend had it torn down to the bearing when I got there --- We quickly surmised that there must be some trick or pulling tool to remove - we pried and pounded until fearful of doing more damage we stopped -- the bearing seems to be pressed in and is obviously the original -- any futher help would be greatly appreciated
