IH 504 motor help

I am currently working on a 1967 IH 504 (utility). The motor is in pretty rough shape, and was looking to replace it. I found one online, just wondering if a motor out of a farmall 504 will work or not. Or if any c153 motor will work.

THe block and most components will be perfect. The front cover and oil pan could be different, but I think if the utility has a frame rail next to the engine it will require no changes. If the utility has no frame rails the front cover is for sure different. Jim

My 504 is a IH Utility, has no frame rails,it uses the engine block as a stressed member. The Farmall row crop tractors used frame rails, make engine swaps a lot simpler.Hope that helps.

504 parts book shows same front cover and oil pan on gasoline engines used in both Farmall and International (utility) tractors. Channel side rails or lack of, makes no difference. Engine block is the same for both models.
