Hi there I"m looking at buying a 966 turbo the tractor has 8500 hrs and the motor,clutch,t/a was all rebuilt and it has a new hyd pump is there anythibg I should be concerned about anything or is there anything to look for? Thanks mitch

870blacknight, As far as the tractor is concerned the usual stuff TA is it solid, the front end is it tight, or is it loose, Sloppy, or sloppy in need or a reworking, welding done on the front end!!!
Rubber, tin what kind of shape,Seat and suspension, The 3 point is it in need of a rebuild, the bushings at the lift arms!
Can you find out what is the deal with the turbo how long has it been on, How Many Hrs. since it was put on. Personally why don't you look for a 1066 in stead of a naturally aspirated 966 that was given a turbo job sometime in its life! Anyway hope this helps.

I have a 966 with a M&W turbo on it since new. It's at 12,000 plus hrs. now. It was overhauled at 6,xxx hrs. It has some blowby now, but not close to needing another overhaul. Still has original TA. Front end has some welding on it, spindle arms and the pivot ball. Been an excellent, low upkeep tractor. The only issue has been the rear wheels have the "C" clamp wheels instead of the wedge lock type. With duals and the power from the turbo, I have broke 4 clamp bolts over the years. It dynos at 135 HP. HTH Wayne

Sounds like quite a bit has been spent on the tractor.IHs are a good buy for the H.P.available.I do prefer factory installed turbos just because the tractor was designed for it and resale is better.I buy a few tractors and a good 1066 usually doesnt bring much over 7K.

Thanks guys i will look for that stuff i forgot to mention it also has new paint here is a pic of it.what do you think its worth?
