Clutch Replacement on Farmall A

I know you have to split it. What stands and tools are required. I have an A that has had not much of a clutch since I got it. Today I noticed it was making sratching noises as I tried to go in or out of gear.
Lots of fond memories with it but really pretty worthless to me as a work tractor, hay raking, pull the small spreader, that's about it.
What sorta' chore is this, what's reasonable price if I pay to have it done (lack of time).

Yep have to split the tractor to do a clutch job. You need to split it right at the engine/torque tube and pull the engine forward or rear back. Me I use jack stands on the rear part and hang the engine on my chain hoist which is on rollers so it is easy but most do not have a shop set up to do things easy like I do

I did the same thing as Old on splitting H. We blocked up the back half and rolled motor hoist in from the front. My hoist is good for a ton.

We did the opposite when splitting 4020.

I have blocked the rear end and used a section of Baker staging on wheels to hold and move the front. Just remember to block the front at the axel to keep it from tipping.

You need to support the rear of the tractor as it will tip backwards when you pull the engine. I used a block of wood about 12 X 12.

You need a good hoist to support the engine and once you remove all the bolts you probably need to wiggle the engine to get it oof the dowel pins. You may need a helper to pry the engine off the dowels. If you don't feel comfortable find a shop to do it. Hal
