I recently bought a tune up kit for my 46 H, 6volt system. New distributor cap, points, condenser. I decided to replace the coil.

I"d like to finish it this weekend, so my questions are:

Is a coil like this available at an auto parts store?

What is the proper gap setting for the points?

Thanks in advance.

it wont look like the original one but yes they sell 6v coils.
distributer .020
magneto .013
timing @ tdc

make sure your on the highest part of the cam lobe with the point rubbing block. clean the point contacts before installation. lots of times points that sit in closed position will form a film on them and wont spark.use a nice clean feeler guage and be accurate.make sure their installed square, not cockeyed. set timing after installing points , as diff. point gaps change engine timing. good idea to change the condenser also. also make sure the insulator from dist housing for the wires ok.

One more question rustred:

The old coil had distributor and battery printed by the 2 terminals and the new has + and -.

So which goes where?
