I believe all Super H had disc brakes and maybe all the 53 model H. The last serial # 53 H according to my book is 391790 with the first being 390500

To the best of my knowledge the last X number of 1952 regular H tractors had the disk housings and components installed in the transition to Super H I believe all Super H tractors had disk brakes. Osco-Lambert disk brakes (three bolts through housing to casting) were available from dealers as installed optional equipment. Parts for these were listed in manuals and catalogs.
Guy Fey can be depended on to set this issue to rest. Jim

1953 Farmall H's From 391358 To 391730 Had The Disk Brakes Like A Super H Only 372 1953 Farmall H's Had Factory Disk Brakes Making It A Very Rare And Hard To Find H!

I own a 53 SH with those same disk brakes Stage I normal SH with a serial # and casting dates in mid-spring 53. I do not think yours is rare, sorry.

A regular H with factory disk brakes is fairly rare as less than 400 of them were so equipped. All Super H's had factory disk brakes.

Harold

this h is very rare. only around 375 straight h tractors made in '53 before the change over to super h's. i have a '52 m with disc brakes but ih produced around 3000 m's eqiped this way before super m production started.

i think maybe the super h decal placed on this tractor threw you off on this super h production started after the '53 model year started, not during '52 like the super m series.

my info [cnh 2wd under 100hp] show this is the only style of brakes offered after sn.351358. Another style of disk brakes were offered as special until sn.351357

(quoted from post at 19:51:15 09/08/11) Some of the Super Hs had regular brakes? I thought all the Supers had disc brakes.

All Supers had disk brakes.

This is a straight H with FACTORY disk brakes. Look at the serial tag picture. It's an H.

EXACTLY!! The tractor in the photo is NOT a Super H, and yes, the factory disc brakes were introduced on the '53 Farmall H. 1953 was the end of production for the H, and was also the beginning of production for the Super H.

Hey Randy,

I had Mom go out and look at the 53 H (not SH) from Harry's Collection and I have serial number 391004-X1. Guess it just a few production days off of being a rare one...

brian, i would think that your h from harry would be rarer yet. a '53 without disc brakes. how's the crops out your way?, randy

Randy,

Guess i better not make a puller out of it then....oh well....got a few others to pick from.

not sure if the crops are ripening or just dieing from lack of rain. Some guys are shelling corn already...ones I talked to moisture in the mid 20's.

How are crops your way?

we have the best looking crops that we have had in years. i guess that we are getting all of your rain. we have had probably over fifteen inches of rain since july 20th. another inch yesterday.

who cares? this is such a ridiculas topic to argue about! Yes there were only a few produced with the disk brakes.so what! in my opinion the band brakes stop a lot better than those crappy disk brakes anyway....
