Can anyone tell me about the wheels on this 450?
They are an IH casting. Were these originally available on a 450?

Yes you could get them on a 450. Most times you can find the IH cast # and a date code on the wheels.

There were available for the 350 also with 12" rims. Hold onto your wallet when you try to replace them.

dhermesc: Yep, I've got a pair on my 350. Never touch them regarding adjusting. Would made nice addition on a fully restored parade tractor? I did see IH cast into them. Could not have been many sold?

Dad got them on the 450 to make it easy to put the 2MH picker on & off. He should have oiled the threads on the tightening bolt/nut thing when they were new. Tractor was always housed, but still got rusty threads--made it hard to adjust.

have a set that came on our 450 with 14 inch rims . they still work good . the rims are available but are expensive.

These are in real good shape and don't look like they've been adjusted much at all. Just something different in my collection.

Yes, wheels are I.H. Rims I cannot find I.H. on them. 14-38 rims 6 bar are pretty pricy but available.Jack screws are pricy too. I found that threades gave me fits even after heating cleaning etc. So I took them to machine shop and they chased threads they screw perfect now.
Yes 450's had power adjust as an option 400 did not. I think they look great. Tony

IH didn't make rims. They sourced them from outside manufacturers.

That explains why you can't find IH info on the rim.

The rims were built by whatever company made the original tires. Firestone, Goodyear, etc. The tires and rims were delivered to IH as an assembly, ready to be installed.

That is funny you mentioned that "rusty." Just fixed my front tire on my Super M last Saturday.Saw "GOODYEAR" and the date(5/53) and rim size stamped into rim! Thought it was kinda funny to see on a rim ???? Was gonna take a photo before remount, but HAD to get back to mowing and grading!
