I have two H water pumps. One has openings where it bolts up to the cylinder head. The other has no openings. Is one an update over the other? Not sure which one to use, as both are in serviceable condition.

I hope someone really knows, But here goes.
If where it has the passages also has ports in the block, use the one that matches those ports.
If the block has no ports at that location, use either. Port matching to the block is the prime consideration. Jim

There is only one style of water pump to fit the Farmall H that I am aware of. I do know that if you buy a rebuilt or NEW H water pump there is only one choice.
