1948 Farmall M

Ive been out beating the bushes again for old iron. Found a 1948 M, narrow front dual wheels, belt drive, gasoline, runs, with a god awful loader on it. The loader uses a pto pump for it's source. Tin looks pretty good and all the parts are there including the lights. What would be a fair offer here in Calif?

If the tires are Ok for your use, and the engine is not smokey, (because you said the loader is junk, I ignore it) about 1200 to 1400. The duals are not needed, but add some trade value to others. Jim

Need to know:rear tire condition
Sheet metal condition
Using oil???

I WOULD NOT go over $2000.00 They go for $1500.00 0n average around here. It doesnt sound like you want the loader anyway.

Are you sure he meant duals in back? I guess I thought he meant a normal narrow front as opposed to a single front wheel. I'm with Jim, I wouldn't buy a fence row M for much over $1000.

$1000-$1200. That is what I'd give on a 63 year old fence row tractor. You will find problems that will need fixed to make it reliable. If you want to clean it up and go through it for your own use, not parades you can 2x-3x the above numbers. I believe good fronts are about 1 Ben Franklin now.

I recently bought a "running" Allis Chalmers 180 diesel (1968) for $2700. Rear tires, seat, fix leaks, gauges, hyd pump rebuild, inj pump rebuild, ect I have around $4000 into it and I have yet to start painting!

Good thing we do not do this to make a profit flipping tractors!

Bought the tractor,$1500 1949 M serial 197322x. Dumped fuel in fired right up with battery jump. It had been sitting since 2009. Ammeter even showed charging. No signs of oil usage but has a god awful loader. We found that the loader might be worth something so we are going to haul it home. When I started the tractor the loader took off and headed straight up for the roof of the barn until I found a 4 way weird valve to control it. Got it somewhat under control then took it for a spin. Took the camera and did not take one picture, dumb me. This loader has a pto hydraulic pump that runs a servo to operate cables that go through pulleys to the bucket dump. Large rams for raising and lowering, quite a deal. More later.

Found Pix and the loader is simular to the
F10 Farmhand Loader pictured in the implement photos. So maybe it is a production thing?
