Farmall / PTO Drve shaft cage

Thanks for all the tips guys! Finally figured out what is causing all my grief. IT Manual calls it the PTO drive shaft cage, it bolts on inside the front of the bell-housing. It needs to be removed so that the T/A can be removed. Tapping it back & forth and up & down, appears to be loosening a bit, but I want to make sure that"s not going to damage anything. Also, someone had it apart before, and did not have it seated correctly when it was put back together. They cranked down on the bolts and put small cracks in two of the "ears", so that may be affecting why it is coming apart so hard. There is very little room on the opposite side to punch against, due to the angle. Anyone have some tips on this?

If its the cage the main clutch release bearing rides on its thicker than it looks from the front. Has a o ring squeezed between it and the main housing on the OD. Use a slide hammer or long rod with something heavy on it in the threaded hole in the front of the clutch shaft. Its 3/8 coarse thread, both shafts and the housing will come out. If the cover is off on top of the main housing, sometimes a bar can be carefully put behind the pto drive gear and the shaft pushed forward. Warning don't get the bar on the edges of the gear teeth as they're easily chipped.
Learned that the hard way the first one I tried.
I have a good cage if needed.
