Super H value

What is a 1953 Super H worth? (serial number SH 11516) Would $1500 be a good price? It has pretty good rear tires, the fronts aren"t too good. It runs and the sheet metal is decent, but it needs paint. It has been converted to a 12 volt system.

sounds like a fair price
does it still have the 164ci motor?
A lot of Super H's I see for sale have had an H 152
swapped in sometime in their history

If it is stage I (battery under gas tank, and belly pump Liftall, good price. If it is Stage II with Live Hydraulics and battery under the seat, it is probably more like 2300 to 2500. Jim

Be sure and check out serial numbers Lots of H tractors were passed off as Super H with just changing the emblems.
World of difference in power.

Thanks for the replies.

It does have the battery under the gas tank. The tractor appears to be mostly original. It starts right up, but seems to run rich. I think it needs a good tune up and the carb. gone through.

I was looking for a dipstick to check the oil and could not find one? Anybody shed any light on this? I saw one at a show with a dipstick, but this one doesn"t have one in the came location, nor anywhere I can see?

Stage I SH it is. The oil is checked with petcocks on the oil pan (Lefty loosy)The bottom cock will tell you if it has enough, the top is used for filling and one stops filling when the top petcock drips. Jim

Yes, I did notice the petcocks on the oil pan and wondered about them. I went ahead and bought the thing. And I have ordered some books and manuals already for it. It needs a new seat, steering wheel, and decals. I saw some decal kits on e-bay as well as some other items. The decal kits I saw though, don't show the gas tank decal like the one on it? Did they change from year to year or during the year?

Are there any real good source materials or restoration guides for this particular model? It will need a new wiring harness as well. Any good parts places I should know about? What about front tires?

All help appreciated. Thanks!
