Lubricating clutch bearing?

Finally putting my 240U back together after rebuilding the engine, and I'd like to reuse the throw-out bearing. Turns freely, tight, looks fine. I cleaned it up real well with kerosene when I took it apart, and feel it should get new grease. However, that doesn't look possible to do?

Even if I press bearing off of housing (does it press off?) I don't think that will provide a way to get grease in will it? The fitting on the housing is for the shaft, but there is a small hole that looks thru to the bearing . . just don't see an easy way in there . . .

any suggestions? hate to replace it if I don't need to

REPLACE the TO bearing, for about $30, as the washing you've done has probably washed dirt/grit INTO it.

If you INSIST on taking the risk of it failing and having to split the tractor AGAIN, you can put the bearing and a gob of grease in a little metal pot and CAREFULLY heat it up. When the grease is liquid, SOME of it will find it's way into the bearing.

Originally it probably had a greaseable bearing but it could have been replaced with a non-regreaseable one. If it is a greaseable one it will have a notch on the back side where the grease can enter the bearing.

Replacing throw out bearing and pilot bushing/bearing is part of any clutc job, unless you like resplitting the tractor and doing it twice. Its a no brainer......

That fitting on the housing your looking at greases the throw out bearing. Yes it will press off the casting. We put a hose on ours that fastens to the bottom cover with a fitting sticking out to grease it.

Replace the Throw out bearing and pilot bearing. The threaded hole in the casting should have a zerk fitting in it. It is not used for greasing the bearing itself, but for greasing the housing as it slides on the input tube. The throw out bearings are pregreased and cannot be greased. You probably hurt it more than helped it by trying to clean it. The old bearing can be heated to press it off. But do NOT heat the new one. It probably has rubber seals in it that heating would destroy. Your bearing supplier might have the equipment to replace the bearing, probably at no charge. Your old bearing shows some wear. The groove in the face should not be there. Replace it!

I've got a new BCA 2063-13 bearing on the shelf. It is the same number as yours but lacks the D suffix. The one I have here is greaseable.

Add the zerk to your carrier and slide it on the pilot tube. Grease it and see if you get any grease into the bearing. You will feel a difference in the way it turns if it is getting grease.

Am I wrong here,or are the 1/8 pipe threads for the fitting showing in this photo???

STILL,replace that throwout bearing !!!! Cheap insurance!!!!

Thanks for the info Scotty,

Stiil,I am afraid to lube the Fitting on my Super M clutch TOO much to this day.I am afraid to get grease in my clutch lining !!!! :)
