Got the transmission drained, re-filled, and the cover scraped, brushed, priimed, painted, and am reaedy to put it back on. But I can't find gasket material 14" to 15" wide, or longer than 36".
Will RTV silicone gasket material work OK?
Thanks.

I havent bought a cover gasket for an M or H, or even my F14 for that matter in years. It must just be me, because every cover gasket Ive bought from Ih or others never fit. I get a tube of silicone from my local parts palce and lay doen a 1/4" 1/2" bead on the case, getting it close to the inside of the edge, drop the top down on there and let it dry.

yes just put a bead all around the bolt pattern and when you get ready to set your cover on put four 7 penny nails on the flange and set the cover down on them and tomorrow take the nails out and bolt the cover down and you have the same as a factory gasket.

You can get vegetable fiber gasket material from MSC Industrial Supply www.mscdirect.com 36" wide and as long as you want it. They have 1/16", 1/32" & 1/64" thickness. You will want 1/32" gasket for your tranny cover.[/url]

That gasket is available from CNH, and not too expensive. I have one sitting here for when I pull my cover.
