300u clutch adjustment.

hello fellas, i just went thru the clutch adjustment procedure as outline in my IH service manual. i still get a little grind when trying to shift and have to bring the rpm down and wait a second and she will slip right into gear no problem. is this normal.

If it has a TA and you are using Hytran, yes. If it is adjusted to spec, the linkage can be sloppy and part of the pedal "clearance" is due to the worn linkage, so you might have to change the pedal clearance slightly. Also, with the tractor running look at the release bearing through the hole underneath. Sometimes the bearing will be touching the fingers so that it spins all the time. This will cause bearing wear but should not harm the clutch plate because the fingers touch the bearing by centrifugal force rather than the clearance being too tight. You might have to adjust the clutch to compromise between slight rotation of the bearing and easy shifting. Also be sure the TA is adjusted right. I have a 460 Hi Utility with that problem that I have never gotten right.
