starting the 230 project restoring this tractor motor ready to be picked off , putting a 153 combine motor in it would like to know what steps im going to have to do to make it work and what parts i need to snag off the 123 motor before i store it away thanks for any help

Can't answer your question, as I do not know all the mounting differences between the 123 and the 153; but the C153 is a sleevess C135, meaning if it needs an overhaul it can be more complicated than simply putting new sleeves and pistons in a 135.

The crankshaft may not be bored for your pilot bearing and as mentioned the C153 engine has no sleeves. I would use the C135 engine or stay with the C123 engine. I used the 3.125" sleeve kit in a Farmall A and it had enough power to have wheel slippage in sod pulling that 16-inch plow. Hal

I don't know what your plans are for your tractor but I have a 230 and a friend has a C with a 153 combine motor in it. We both tractor pull and he hasn't bet the 230 yet. Too much wheel slippage. Mine has been worked on and I don't see that much power difference. The only setback is if you want to put 3 1/4 pistons in the 230 block you have to bore the block and redo the bottom seal for the sleeves. For some reason the bottom of the block is smaller and you can't use the 3/4 sleeves unless you bore it.

im actully going to use it around the house however the pulling tracks around here are power tracks for the most part so if i do use it to pull i will need the power the 230 also runs 400 rpms more than a c so u would not get the pull potential out of the 153 i pull a john deere b pushing over 40hp and it runs out of power in the 4000 pound class 1st gear super m with 65-70 hp runs out in 6000 its hard here the 230 motor needs a complete rebuild from crank being turned to valve train so rather than droping 1000-1500 i figured i would put the good running 153 in it that i have 300 into
