H transmsission is happy again

Thank you again Janicholson for your help. I pulled the top
cover last night and found that there was a tooth broken about
halfway across on the lower constant mesh gear. At first I
thought I must have missed a piece of pilot bearing roller in the
transmission sump, but when I read your post it made sense
about a cracked tooth. I did not find any bits of roller, but I did
find three bits of the gear tooth. I had a spare SH constant mesh
gear on hand, so I put that on and it works fine now. I ran the
haybine for an hour and a half this afternoon up and down a hill,
and nothing bad seemed to happen. The spare gear has some
pitting on the face of two teeth so I may need to replace it with a
better one at some point. This time it only took me 5 hours of
work to take the transmission apart and put it back together, so
maybe if I have to do it again I can get it down to 4 hours.
Thanks again for your help.

You are welcome. The analysis was free, and a pleasure, the labor was yours, I am glad the tractor is back in action.
