Hauling a Farmall M

I currently have a deck over goose neck trailer to haul my tractors but I don't use it very much. Therefore, I have been considering buying a bumper pull skid steer trailer to haul. However, I am concerned if I can haul my Farmall M, Super M or SMTA without reversing the rear wheels. They are currently dished out. Has anyone been succesful in hauling these size tractors on a trailer with 83 inches between the fenders?

Nope, we haul our '48 M om a PJ trailer that has removeable fenders. We remove the left fender then back the M on with the right rear wheel passing over the tires, then replace the fender, drive the right tractor wheel against the fender and chain'er down. Reverse the procedure when unloading. We ain't about the reverse the tractor wheels and have it look like a Canadian Puller Special. No offense Darryn, or other Canadian friends, we just like the dished out look.

Check out a 102" wide deckover bumper pull, here's the ones Doolittle makeshttp://doolittletrailer.net/?cat=4#

You have to reverse one wheel. The only other way to get them on a car trailer, etc is to use the rear cast centers off a 400/450 with double bevel rims -- so I have read. As to weight, I hauled about 5300 lbs of 350 with a 7000 lb GVW car trailer last week with my GMC half ton and an equalizing hitch. Maintained 65 mph for 100 miles, but I was probably about 500 lbs overweight, not too good of an idea. If I had a 3/4 ton and a goose neck, I don't think I would trade it for a bumper pull.

Might as well keep his gn at that point. It will tow much better than a bumber pull and he can put two on it if he feels like it.

I have a M on a car trailer and the wheels are dished out and slid in as far and they can go and it fits on the trailer with one tire off. So if I were you I would forget the small trailer and keep the deck over.

There's many ways to skin a cat. That trailer was alot less than 83". It had a 8000 lb rating.

I got caught with my hand up at an auction 400 miles away. Didn't think i was going to buy a tractor so I didn't bring a trailer.

I loaded the 650 from the front. The auctioneer lifted the the pintle eye onto my pintle hitch. The loading operation drew a big crowd. Front wheels just cleared the fenders. Rear tires were centered on frame rails. Had a nice trip home doing the speed limit.

Now this is the most interesting thing I've seen on here in quite a while! I've only seen one other SMTA with a crosswise tank and it was an ex cotton stripper. Was this one a cotton stripper? Is that a Tulsa tank?

I have two stage 2 SM's with the crosswise tank and two SMTA's with the lengthwise tank.

Very nice looking machine! First class.

I also carry my 400 on same trailer.
trailer frame is 84" id Fenders are 87" inside to inside.
Cast centers are in to 1/2" of axle housing, 400 is on outer bevel SMTA you have no choice.
Both tractors have 14.9-38 Titans. Keep them inflated so no bulge while on trailer. Tony

What is the capacity of your trailer? What is the weight for each axle? I have not seen any trailers that is 87" between the fenders. The most I have seen is 83".

Take a look at the PJ Trailers "B6 Super Wide." It's a 101" lowboy trailer with drive-on fenders. 81" between the fenders, but you can drive on them.

The large-frame tractors will NOT narrow up enough to fit on an 83" trailer, without turning at least one wheel around.

This is a Jacobsen trailer. Built Fowler, Calif.
Its 15000 gvw axles are 7000 lbs each. Electric brakes all wheels.

Mufflers came from Marks Tractors, couple yrs ago.
However,His business seems to have disappeared,I and lot of others been trying to get hold of him to no avail. No one knows what happen to Him. Tony

Yes, this is a Tulsa tank.
Don't know early history of this paticuliar tractor, however, I bought and restored it based on my Dad's cotton tractors that I grew up with. In the central valley of Califoria.
All the farmalls I grew up around had this type tank.
Would like to see pictures of yours with long tank. My E-mail is open ,Tony
