Can you remove a Clutch from a 1950 WD9 without spitting the tractor? Remove from top or bottom of housing. Any tricks? Will not release. Thanks.

You can look at it by removing that top plate right behind the engine. I would guess you can remove it from there, but I haven't got that far yet.

To remove the clutch from a
WD9 you have to remove the fuel tank, belt pulley drive if you have one, air cleaner/fuel tank bracket, clutch/flywheel cover. You do not split. Every thing comes out the top. Best to get an IT manual it explaines the procces well. I have four W9's, I know the the job well. Good Luck.

should i install input shaft seal(s)? while i m there? anyother thing to replace while i m there. ordering parts from case ih today. trying to get parts all in one shot (that never happens thou) thanks

First read the IT manual thoroughly. Make sure you have extra patience as it is a bit of a trick getting it out and back in. It took me a while to get it and I remember walking away a few times to try again fresh. Have fun!

I would also look at rear main seal while you have it apart. You do have to drop the pan to replace the seal, but it saves taking everything else back out to do the main seal. Is a little more work but now is the time to save some work.
