Decals/ 400 TA

I recently bought a Farmall 400 with a mounted IH 234 picker with a husking bed. Im wantin to restore and paint both tractor and picker. Can i still get the decals for the picker or will i have to have them made? Also the TA on my 400 slips on the high side, i know its just the clutch in the TA but would i be further ahead to just put a new TA in or just replace the clutch in my old one? I don't really wanna have to tear it appart agin after its painted. Whats a new mechanical TA cost?

Thanks Chris

Sounds like TA ramp and roller, not either clutch. Repair requires double split. That means the center section has to be completely removed.

Ramp and roller can be purchased separately. Don't know the cost. Complete TA is around $500-600.

My 560d TA would slip on the high side hauling wagons going from 5th TA to direct. I put in a new clutch disc which solved the problem.

With serious respect and a "you know that already", he said it slips in direct, not in reduction. The TA clutch (or possibly the master clutch) is the issue. If it slows down to TA speed under load, then goes back to direct when unloaded, it is the TA clutch. It could be radically out of adjustment as well. Jim

Its just slippin in DD, I went through and adjusted it by my manual and it helped it but its still slipping. It pulls strong in TA just wont hold in DD, I know its the TA clutch but im just wondering if im further ahead puttin a whole new TA in and forgeting about it. I will be using the tractor alittle on the farm and take it to a few pulls.
Your input is appreaciated.

I would put in the clutch (I also would consider putting in the ramp and rollers from Hicapacity.
My thinking is that splitting it in both places now is better than splitting it two places twice. I would not replace the Unit. Jim

Just putting the TA clutch and pressure plate in it sounds fine to me. Lots of times if the rollers are worn, they will get flat spots in them and make noise when engaging the TA. If you did need to replace the ramp and rollers, I think the price is around $150, but then you would also need seals and gaskets, which is close to another $100.
