I don't know what we will do with it, but just couldn't see it go to the scrapper.

Wow, I hope it looks better in real life. You'll learn what expensive is when you start working on that one (esp the motor)

Go for it. At the end of the day its ONLY nuts and bolts, a bit of patience and probably a lot of knuckle skin. (and maybe a fortune)Depends how much you can do yourself and how much you have to pay for. Look forward to seeing more of this one. MTF

I think I would let that one go to the scrapper and save one that is in better shape.

There are some that need to be scrapped.

You might be able to salvage a few parts off of it first.

Gary

yep, I'd say thats a project.

all of them are savable, if you're willing to put in the work and money. If you do restore it, make sure ya keep some before pictures, folks won't believe its the same tractor.

After working on my 450D the past three years, and having that much more time to go I have come to the conclusion that some tractors are made for the scrappers, not all 450 diesels, just mine! It looked 1000% better than the one in the picture, but had a bad differential bearing that took out the pinion gears, TA is junk.....took it apart and the main shaft that runs through it is missing chunks out of the splines, the radiator was un-reparable, the head was cracked, injection pump toast, pistons stuck and the crank was rough. I know one thing, when I am done with it it will go on the list of tractors I will never sell! Have fun with your new project!

Granpa's first tractor, barn stored for the last 27 years. Oh yeah! Dont be put off by anyone. This I would love to see finished. I've just put a before and after on the Fordson page. MTF

Yeah, we'll probably salvage what parts we can and close our eyes and let the rest go. Just not a whole lot of the them around here to try to rebuild from. Thanks for lookin and the replies.

It looks like a good parts tractor to me, sometimes the transmissions are really nice inside on ones that have been sitting for a long time, and I'm sure you'll get some good out of it.

I thought of this story as soon as I looked at this post!

I looked again at the pictures and noticed that the radiator has actually rotted off the tractor! That is amazing. When I said it was in sad shape that didn't mean I thought there wern't any salvageable parts on it. I just couldn't believe that a tractor was that rusted apart. Did it sit in a cattle shed? Those seem to be worse than some that sat outside.
I could use the hour meter block off plate for my SMTA if they are the same part. I'll check the p/ns if you want to get rid of it someday.
