going to look at a 990 haybine sometime this weekend. what should i look at, look for, and do they have a good reputation?

Also are parts easy to get?

Make sure the top steel roller is in goood shape, and that the big 12" drive sprocket off the main gearbox is ok. That gear is expensive. Parts, for me, have been easy to get.

The 990 was a very good mower conditioner. They were made in the 70's. Check all the bearings and belts. Parts are available at your Case IH dealer.

Good machine. If you want to keep the multi-rib flat drive belt in good shape, loosen the tension spring after use.
There are 2 grease fittings on the left side of the machine underneath at the rear that often get overlooked.
