distributor without advance

I posted about this in the last month or so. I could read 3 digits on the flange and they started with a C.

finally bought a cheap camera so I can have more useful posts and not worry about wrecking my wife's really good kodak.
So here are the pics of the advanceless IH distributor from one of our Super Cs.

I had an extra Delco Remy universal right angle mag drive (1111411 if i remember right) laying around that now fills the ignition duties.

Interesting. It could have a frozen two piece shaft in it that caused the owner to strip out the advance mechanism. It might run an engine that was single speed operation OK, if you could get it to start with a modest advance. It could also be from a Diesel that had no need for advance!? Some gas start diesels had a small advance curve (of something like 8 degrees) Jim

The last 450 diesels used a no advance distributor. I changed one or two to the 8 degree advance so they would run a little better on the gasoline cycle.

J, didn't they phase out the advance altogether at some late point in the gas-start diesel production?

have to practice some photo skills.
The shaft is solid, so it definitely never had an advance. This tractor was bought from a trader that buys low, fixes, and then sells.
Other oddities on this tractor include a household light switch for ignition and a generator with expandable pulley like an H or M.
The block was replaced at one time as well as it has a dipstick and petcocks, along with no serial number. Old tractors will run on any parts that sorta-fit i guess!

C code is the fixed spark distributor code letter and it was made to go on a diesel tractor that turned it the other dirrection from your gas. Yes the shaft is one piece.
