I was moving the tractor arround the barn and took a sharp right turn and heard a small pop. The steering wheel now moves freely without any tire movement, I sure could use some imput before I tear into it. Thanks
 
If it isnt the u joint under the hood.Then most likely it is at the gearbox under the nosecone/grill.It is a wormgear/sector gear setup.Parts are available.NOT to difficult of a repair.
 
Bo, Probably it is the 1/2 Moon key at the little universals joint under the hood at the support bracket that the steering shaft goer through. The steering shaft is spinning in one end of that little universal. Simply loosen all necessary hardware slide the shaft out of the female part, fine the keyway, drive out the remaining part, slide in a new one, reinstall shaft, tighten all hardware and you should be good. I doubt it there is a problem in the steering sector, but after 60+ years anything is possible. Hope this helps.
