Hey guys,

I am redoing my 11'#37 disk.Just got the hitch redone) I am getting ready to remove all of the gangs off of it and have a lot of broken cutters that need replaced (MORE than 8 disk are broken badly !!!) they are the 16" diameter ones.

I was wondering a couple of things.

#1 Since I am going to be separating all of the cutters and spools on all 4 shafts should I go ahead and install the 18" diameter ones instead of buying th 16" that are already on it?

#2 I know the blades are available at my local Rural King, but since I am going to be buying a "butt load" of these things,Is there a place I can get these in "bulk"???

Thanks,Mike

Go to your local store(s)and see if they will give you a"quanity discount".Buy your parts locally if possible-they need the business.Secondly,If Bought "mail order",the freight will cost way more than any saveings that you would get.

I have replaced the blades on my #37 disc several times over the years. I never changed to 18". I bought mine from the IH dealer cost more but I found that the ones from TSC and Farm & Fleet are not as thick or strong as the ones from the IH dealer. Just my feelings.

Are you sure the disks are 16", and not 18" disks that have worn down over the years?

Frankly, I think you will decide to go with 16" when you find out how much replacing ALL the disks will cost. You will also probably just replace the ones that need replacing...

IH disks are "Earth Metal" and seem to wear better.

Recently (Spring) Refurbished my #37 Used 18" scalloped blades from CaseIH. Not cheap, but disc works very well. Added furrow fillers and homemade pick-up drag. I have been very pleased. Hope photo will attach? It takes more than a Super A to pull this rig!

The IH earth metal blades will cost a little more, but definitely worth it. Will polish a lot better and just a better quality blade.

A lot of CIH dealers offer parts specials, some in the spring, some in the fall & some both, with discounts. Might want to check with your local dealer & see if he does such a progam.

We prefer the CIH Eath Metal blades as they seem to wear better than other brands. Personally, if your going to be using the disc much I would go with the 18" blades. Price won't be that much more and they will cut better IMO. JM2¢

Mike, I bought some 16" 482986-R2 Earth Master disks from my Case-IH dealer last year for $22.19 each. Like others said, they seem to last much longer than other after-market disks. Al

CIH has a rebate program on Earth Metal blades that starts December 1,2011. You could get up to 20% off on each blade.

If you are not in hurry to get it fixed, wait for the sale.
