I bought a stuck Farmall 400 diesel and would like to bore scope it will that work? Like to see the cylinders somewhat without pulling apart

You can of you can get the injectors and pre-cups out, and if your scope will fit through the tiny hole. If the engine is stuck, I can only imagine trying to pull out pre-cups!

Polk Equipment in IN is running an eBay auction right now on a 400 injection pump. Talk to them. Maybe they will cancel the sale and put up the whole motor or sorry looking tractor. Click link below.

If you could scope the engine, what would you see? The stuck is going to be on the outer piston surface where it meets the cylinder wall. Pull an oil sample out of the pan and if it shows green water, you will have major issues to deal with. Send the sample out for an oil analysis and if it shows metals get your check book ready because most everything will need to be replaced. Good luck.

You probably should pull the head and soak the pistons with atf and let it soak. I had a 1966 Ford Mustang with the 200cid engine and it was bought used and didn't have that many miles on it. It kept fouling plugs and I borrowed a borescope light from work and I looked into each cylinder and I've never seen so much carbon. I pulled the head and the combustion chambers were loaded with carbon. I decide to pull the pistons and the rings were full of carbon too and the oil holes in the pistons were plugged. We did the valve job at work and I used the wire brush on a grinder to clean the carbon off and my co-worker ground the valves. The floor was covered with carbon and we had to clean that too. Car ran like a new one with new rings, rod bearings and the valve job. Hal
