the steering on my H is extremely loose alot of free play in the wheel, I have narrowed it down to the fact when you turn the wheel the shaft that runs down vertically thru what I will call the wishbone seems to move from side to side, does this shaft have bushings on it? I removed the gear but dont seem to see any bushing or bearing am I missing something? If ther is a bushing how do you get it ou

Yup - there's a bushing at the bottom of the worm gear box. New bushings are readily available from CIH and elsewhere.

Replacement is relatively straightforward. You need to remove the lower bolster (the casting that holds the front wheels) then drop the bolster pivot shaft. The bushing and the seal beneath the bushing can be driven out and new parts installed.

Carter and Gruenwald sell the whole kit with the bushing, bearings, seals and gaskets to do the job, I just put one in my H over the winter. Steers like a new tractor now. http://www.external_link/
