I have one serial 66xxx apart and am sanblasting and see no evidence of gray anywhere that metal meets metal under the fenders or fuel tanks.

No red 15-30's or 22-36's , not till the w-30.
my 1938 10-20 is red cause they were built to 1939. red paint was official nov. 01 1936.

the original grey that was used wasnt even paint, it was varnish. most of the time when the red tractors came out and things got repainted, the grey had long since been worn off

all the ones i have and seen it is grey paint.look at mccormick deering.com article there about the grey paint.

all the original tractor parts i have with traces of grey on them is FAR from being 'paint' as we know it today

The 15-30 and 22-36 were out of production (replaced by the W-40 etc. which came out in 1934) when IHC went to painting the tractors red. The change date was 1st November 1936, the first day of the 1937 production year. before that, the paint committee decision was grey with red varnish (dipped) wheels

Hey rustred what's your S/N? I got a red one too, but was told this was impossible from the factory, the reason it was red was all the dealer repaints during the forties.
