Here's John Lundberg's cracked ring gear. I'm posting the picture for him. He thinks the crankshaft is broken. Hal

nice to hear end results, as often forgetten once they get a bunch of info. it must have shined up the mounting surface by spinning on the flywheel.
 
He called me at home after I asked him to pry over the ring gear and it's just spinning on the flywheel. Hal
 
Resolution may include walking John through additional diagnostics on the engine. It may be stuck, but able to be freed.
It may be ""real"" stuck and again on the market. Jim
 
Spinning that ring gear has probably ruin the surface of the flywheel where the ring gear was a press fit. He's thinking about selling it. Hal
