Super MTA not starting

Mowing yesterday. I mowed for about two hours, stopped for a drink, about five minutes break. It took me about five minutes and a lot of choking to get started again. The same situation happened again about two hours later. At Dinner time I stopped for about an hour and it started perfectly. This has never happened before. What causes the hard starting on a warm engine? Thanks Ellis Kinney

Needle & seat leaking maybe?
6 or 12 volt?
Try turning gas off when shut off. If it starts right up ---suspect a leaking needle & seat.
Points & condenser in good shape?

A leaky manifold can cool and seal back up to restart, or it could be a coil going bad. Feel the coil when it has run for an hour or so, if hotter than expected, it could be bad.

Between the quality of the needle & seats & today's gas it doen't seem like needles & seats last very long. I have put some in that stuck within 15 minutes. Once, my SMTA died while I was backing it in the shed after it had been running an auger close to 8 straight hrs. I couldn't et it to restart so pulled it on in until I had more time to look into it. Ended up the needle vave had stuck shut. First time I ever had one stick while the engine was running.

I always keep a spare one on hand. I seem to have better luck with the ones from CIH instead of the ones from places like TSC & such or even thae aftermarket ones the CIH dealer sells
