WD-9 Gas Line Compression Sleeve

I had a crack in my fuel line on my 1951 WD-9 and needed to replace the line. I replaced the line with a copper line, but am having difficulties sealing the connection between the outlet of the sediment bowl and gas line. The compression sleeve that I am using is not the same as the original IH design. Does anyone know where to locate these?

With respect, I would not use copper line for Fuel. It seems like it would be OK, but it can and does work harden from vibration and break off. Purchasing break line tubing, with correct fittings, or with seperate fittings and cutoff ends is good. Stainless Steel is great. I do not like synthetic rubber, or composite lines on gravity fed fuel either. Failure can be very Disastrous. My uncles H was toast from a hose leak onto the starter. Jim

Does your compression sleeve look like the one in the picture? Hal

The combo nut and sleeve is READILY available through any CIH dealer. Part number 222-503, about $1.75 each.

I also highly recommend AGAINST using copper tubing.

The copper tube is part of the reason why you're having problems. It is soft and probably got deformed out-of-round when you cut the tubing to length. You'll NEVER get it right.

I found the compression ferrules at my local True Value hardware store. There's a string of them hanging on my key rack at home now so I have spares.
