Dozer catching air!!

OK so i have this great dozer now. But every now and then it is getting air in the fuel line and I have to bleed the system. It will run a good 5 hours and do it again. I already chsnged the filter and it has a full tank. I see no fuel leaks.

I just bought the dozer. The fuel primer was froze up and none of the injectors looked like they have ever had a wrench on them to bleed. So the prob is new.

It could be a few different things, check the easy stuff first. the fuel line could have a small crack in it. There might be a screen in your fuel tank, it could be plugged, if it has a mechanical fuel pump the diafram could be cracked. I would start with the fuel line first :D

I had the same problem on a D3B bought used several years ago. When it first occurred I discovered that the primer pump was frozen up and replaced it. That let me at least prime it, but then the problem got worse. Turned out the new primer pump did not seat well against the cast iron mechanical pump housing and air was leaking in around the primer pump. Fixed that with a home made copper sealing washer. That improved the problem, but it still died sporadically. I (finally) discovered that the hard fuel line between the fuel filter and primer pump had cracked where the line was welded to the banjo fitting at the primer pump end. Replaced the line and everything has been fine for several years.

Well it runs great, starts right up. Has lots of power, no misses,, Just taks on air every now and then. Bleed the lines back out and it runs great for a few more hours.
