Seat spring for Farmall C

IH supplied different springs for light guys, medium guys and lard a$$es, like myself. When buying a new one from any aftermarket guy, how do you know which one you're getting.

I've got both the lighter duty AND the heavy duty for BIG boys. Clearly identified in my on-line store.

there are notches on the top of the spring, one for light, two for mid, three for heavy. By the way unless you are over 300-320lbs the heavy spring maybe to heavy for you. My father had one on his tractor and he couldnt get it to level out, always pitched foward, and he is 285lb.

The original springs range from NO notch for the light duty, up to 5 notches for the heavy duty. I weigh around 250# and the 5 notch spring is just right for me. The aftermarket replacement springs do NOT have any notches, but through trial and error, I have determined the black painted spring available from A&I is the equivalant of the 5 notch spring, and the red painted spring available from Tisco is more comparable to the zero notch or 1 notch spring.
There does not appear to be any aftermarket springs available that fill in the gap between the light duty and the heavy duty springs

For us really heavy lard a$$es, I have the rear spring from a mid 80's Chevy Cavalier installed on my 1940 H. I could not find a three notch spring. It fits well and is comfortable for me (340 pounds).

It will be the heavy one, the only one they make. I only weigh 165, seat does not compress a lot.

Me a lard a$$?? Every good plumber needs a shed for his tool.

I use 1 1/2 springs and custom cut the second one till I got it right for me and it fits inside the original one.
