$9.99 + shipping may be too much for this 400 gtill

I suppose in 15 years when Marty2374 has destroyed most every 400 in the country, this may be a good value. I think he is now on his 9th Farmall 400. Click on link. eBay won't let me copy their photos.

he parted out a super h a while back, i emailed him in regards to the upper bolster, it had the y casting, he never got back to me, he must sell off the small items and scrap the rest, what a shame. that grill is a mess....lol

He does say it "was in very nice original condition.....when dismantled". Good use of the past tense.

This is down right comical!

BTW, I've been meaning to get your opinion on running a hydraulic pump off the front pulley but I'll put that in a more complete post sometime.

Ya, Marty doesn't communicate. Doubt if he even reads his emails.

He will offer that worthless grill but hasn't yet discovered the woven brass hydraulic filter in the reservoir that also fits 300-350. Those filters have value, if not caved in, and are easy to sell and ship. I have sent him two emails on the subject.

Meanwhile he blacklisted me because I demanded a refund on the cylinder below. That airhead shipped it with the rod extended. Knowing him though, it was probably bent before packaging. He does no inspections. I had to get another email addy and open a new eBay account.

Come to think about it, I don't ever recall Marty selling any copper or brass. He must think the brass filter will scrap out for more than $9.99. Never happen. I'd bet they could auction off for more than $20 every time. If he had a good reputation, they could bring double that.

(quoted from post at 04:52:56 08/18/11) Ive came to the conclusion that that Marty Prill isn't firing on all four. Seems that if his stuff dont sell, on to the scrap pile it goes. If it were me, id inventory it, what dont sell today, might sell tomorrow. Iv e never seen him sell a radiator either.

One things for sure....He don't have any respect for these things, and any Tractor that falls into his clutches, will soon meet a swift and pointless fate.

Prob because radiators dont ship well. They get too beat up, no matter how you package them.

(quoted from post at 19:52:38 08/17/11) He is also offering an aluminum carb for this 400. Never heard of such a thing except for two battels. As usual, his picture is poor.
eBay auction

Never seen an aluminum carburetor for a 400, but I HAVE seen one for a Farmall H. It was only the bowl that was aluminum. The top was the usual cast iron. The aluminum bowl DID have all the the correct IHC markings on it, so I can only assume it was a replacement carburetor, and not original.

Wardner, If you inlarge the photo then you can right click on it and save it to your pictures folder. Then you can upload it here.

Devil's advocate here, but if you think about that for a few minutes you'll realize that if it doesn't take long to run out of space if you keep everything that doesn't sell.

Marty's primarily in the scrapping business, not in the used tractor parts business. He buys 'em cheap and sells off a few parts he thinks are valuable for some "walkin' around money," then scraps the rest.

Why do you believe this guy when he says the tractor was in "real nice shape," when you've seen some of the JUNK he sells, and after how he's treated Wardner? I think you just WANT to be upset. The guy is shady at best; do you really think he's telling the truth about the condition of the tractor?

Do you really think he's tearing up "perfectly good" tractors? You're just letting your imagination run away with you to make yourself upset. Life's too short!

If he's making you that upset, why don't you get out there and buy up all the junk tractors so he can't get them?

Thanks for the picture, Mike. I did enlarge and tried to send it directly to Photobucket. Next time I will send it to my puter first.

Mkirsch,

I do think he has scrapped quite a few "runners". He needs cash flow and does fast liquidations rather than wait for a tractor buyer.

Marty did refund the auction price but only half the original shipping. He was obligated by eBay to refund all the shipping, If he wanted the cylinder back, he should have paid the return shipping.

That's my photo. His picture was shot with the cylinder rotated 90 degrees axially. The bend was not apparent in his ad. It's a 50/50 chance that he did that on purpose. Knowing Marty, I'd say he knew it was bent but sold it anyway. He is so brain dead he doesn't know enough to retract the rod. Probably thinks it needs to be mounted in order to retract. His site will probably be a Superfund site one day so I don't think oil spillage was a concern. Of course, it could have been so bound up, it wouldn't retract. In that case, he should have tossed it into the dumpster.

Fortunately, I had an extra rod. I bought a new kit for $25. My final cost (less labor) for the cylinder is about $40. Slightly less than the original auction price plus shipping.

I use EBAY a lot. I mean A LOT. I can get things cheaper on there shipped than local with tax (9.5%).

Looking at marty's stats, if I did not know he was shady, I would buy from him. This is why. Power Seller, 99.7%, 19682 transactions, over 4 1/2 stars, 9585 positives, 45 neutrals, and 13 negatives in 12 months. Considering he is selling USED parts, that is not bad statistics. Now if selling new parts, that would be not so good.

The neutrals and negatives were probably people expecting very nice parts at a scrap price. I have bought parts from people like marty that had hazy pictures and a line of BS "good runner" (why part it out?) I have given negatives for damaged goods (like Wardner's cylinder).

Overall I'm saying a power seller over 99%, EBAY will probably side with the seller. Sad but true, like Wardenr's shipping costs.

This guy obviously is a junk dealer, not a tractor parts salvage company. Just be careful when buying parts from these types, they will burn you for a little cash.

PS that grill looks better than the one off my Allis-Chalmers 180 that I ran through the bush hog!

I bought 3 kits for an Allis Chalmers 180. Two lift cylinders and one steering cylinder. Less than $60 for all 3, good stuff. Bought them from Baum Hydraulics.

tempola,

Understood, but if we kept EVERYTHING because it's "part of our heritage" we would be up to our eyeballs in JUNK. You wouldn't be able to get into a building, let alone walk around the yard. Most of it would have to sit outside because we simply couldn't afford to build the buildings to house it. Then it's just rusting away anyway, and eventually it won't even be good enough to send for scrap.

I'm not worried because people like Marty will NEVER be able to get 'em all.
